DoD/Industry-Wide Integrated Optics and Fiber Optics Communications Conference, 15-17 May 1974.

Abstract

New technologies are constantly being investigated and evaluated to determine their value in solving problems and introducing new capabilities in DoD systems. Fiber optics has emerged as one which offers solutions to many of the most significant problems, in terms of equipment performance and cost. Integrated optics technology shows promise of giving additional improvements in fiber optic systems by providing fast, active elements in very compact form.
