Investigations of Describing Functions and Limit Cycles of Nonlinear Systems.

Abstract

Methods for determining describing functions and limit cycles of single-valued nonlinear feedback systems are presented. A harmonic balance method is developed for finding the describing functions of multiplicative nonlinearities. The determination of limit cycles is accomplished by utilizing a newly-developed analytic method. This approach, which is completely computer oriented, imposed neither order limitations on the linear part nor restrictions on the number of possible stable limit cycles. Illustrative examples for both methods are included. (Author)
