Physical and Mechanical Characterization of a Porous Tungsten.

Abstract

The physical and mechanical characteristics of an 80 percent dense porous tungsten have been statically determined. This tungsten exhibited a sharp yield at a hydrostatic pressure of 0.93 GPa followed by work-hardening crushup. The yield surface is uniquely defined, independent of loading path. The effect of crushup on the permeability of the porous tungsten was also measured and a model is proposed to describe this behavior. (Author)
