Measurement of the Vapor Pressure of Soil Moisture with Mercury Manometer Tensiometers at Air Temperatures Below 0C (Messung der Bodenwasserspannung mit Hg-Manometer-Tensiometern bei Lufttemperaturen unter 0C),

Abstract

A method for tensiometer measurements of soil moisture tension at air temperatures below 0C is described. A column of decahydronaphthalin (= decalin, density 0.89) forms the hydraulic connection between the water in the tensiometer ceramic cell and the Hg-manometer. Experimental results and some restrictions of the method (especially the necessary solar radiation protection) are discussed.
