Component Development for Transmission and Correlative Reception of Artificial Atmospherics.

Abstract

The first item discussed is an improved winch mechanism for the Signal Corps' Artificial Atmospherics Generator. The generator, a Marx circuit device, is used in conjunction with quarter-wavelength, vertical, helicopter-supported antennas to produce the required high peak power pulse transmissions. The winch mechanism is necessary to store and control the large amount of wire used in such an antenna. The second component, a prototype real-time pulse correlator for on-line processing of the received pulse signals, is intended for use as part of the pulse experiment receiver complex.
