Speech Recognition System Test. Identification of Vowels Excerpted from Oral and Nasal Contexts.

Abstract

A set of speech stimuli, consisting of vowels excerpted from context, were constructed in order to evaluate the performance of the speech recognition system under construction in this laboratory. The stimuli were presented to human subjects and to the speech recognition system for identification. It was found that human performance was only slightly superior to the performance of the system on this phonetic classification task. (Author)
