Flueric Laminar Gain Blocks and an Operational Amplifier Scaler.

Abstract

This report discusses the analytical and experimental design of laminar proportional gain blocks and an operational amplifier scaler. In this study, eight different laminar proportional amplifier (LPA) configurations were tested and evaluated for use in the design of gain blocks and an operational-amplifier scaler. The input and output characteristics, the Reynolds number and bias control pressure effects on the gain, and the proper operating Reynolds number range of these LPA's were measured. An op-amp scaler has been designed and tested using a threestage gain block with all stages operating at the same supply pressure. Test results indicate that this scaler with a forward loop gain of about 60 has an accuracy of 90 percent for the Rf/Ri ratio between 0.521 and 3.59, which agrees well with the analytical predictions.
