A Fully Stressed Design Capability for NASTRAN with Reanalysis Techniques,

Abstract

A fully stressed design algorithm has been added to NASTRAN level 15 in order to optimize the weight of a structure subject to stress constraints under static loading for isotropic and anisotropic materials. Reanalysis techniques have been included to reduce computer time required for analyzing new designs. These techniques include Taylor series expansion of the displacement vector and a reduced basis method. The derivatives required are computed with respect to either design variables or design variable reciprocals.
