Structure and Properties of High Temperature Materials.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) the characterization of the vaporization, gaseous combustion and reaction products over high temperature materials such as (a) the refractory metals and their oxides, (b) graphite and carbides, and (c) flame and propellant constituents (such as boron; (2) the determination, via optical and ESR (electron spin resonance) spectroscopy, of the vibrational and electronic properties of these and related high-temperature molecules and the understanding and correlation of that information with theory whenever possible.
