Introduction to the PRESS Real-Time Program

Abstract

This document gives an introductory description of the function and operation of the PRESS Real-Time Program (RTP). The RTP operates in a 7094 computer and is used to record data and to control the TRADEX radar and PRESS optical sensors at the PRESS Field Station at Roi-Namur Island, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. The RTP is subdivided into 29 semiautonomous subprograms, and the function and operation of each of these subprograms is briefly described. The emphasis in these descriptions is on the operation of the RTP viewed as a system of component subprograms, and on the data communication between the RTP and the external I/O devices connected to the computer.
