Flow Field Diagnostics in the Compressor Research Facility One-Tenth Scale Flow Model.

Abstract

The Air Force Aero Propulsion Laboratory is developing a compressor research facility (CRF). The facility must provide a metered flow at a given pressure which is uniform in temperature and velocity at the compressor inlet. In this study the flow field of a one-tenth scale flow model of the CRF, constructed by a contractor for the Air Force Aero Propulsion Laboratory, was investigated. Velocity measurements made with a constant temperature anemometer using hot wire sensors provided the basis for establishing velocity profiles and turbulence intensity levels.
