Aerodynamic Methodology. Bodies with Tails at Arbitrary Roll Angles (Transonic and Supersonic).

Abstract

Development and use of empirical methods to predict aerodynamic characteristics of missile body-tail configurations are described. Methods cover the Mach number range of 0.6 to 3.0. Prediction methods cover the individual body and tail bend characteristics over the angle of attack range from 0 to 180 degrees. For body-tail configurations at arbitrary roll angles the applicable angle of attack range is 0 to 45 degrees. All mutual interference effects are accounted for, allowing accurate prediction of forces and center of pressure. (Author)
