Optical Fiber Coupling and Strength Tests.

Abstract

This report summarizes contract research through September 1, 1975, and defines design requirements for an efficient transition fiber to couple the rectangular output aperture of a semiconductor laser to round single mode fiber cores. Fiber strength testing and strength improvement processing work has been completed with results of strength tests on fibers of lengths up to 15 meters. (Author)
