An Evaluation of Material Cost Escalation Impact on Proposals at Boeing Wichita.

Abstract

The report presents a study of material escalation factors at the Boeing Company, Wichita Division. The purpose was to set forth recommendations for allowable rates of material cost escalation for proposals submitted to the Air Force Pricing Analysis Division at Det 21, AFCMC (AFLC). The report gives an overview of the contemporary situation and presents a methodology for developing a recommended allowable rate of material cost escalation. Subjects covered include materials usage, material cost indicators, method of analysis (historical data collection, regression, and subjective analysis), data base construction, and a description of the quantitative analysis performed.
