Abstract

The Thirteenth Annual Solid State Physics Conference of the Institute of Physics (United Kingdom) was held in Manchester on 5-7 January 1976. The agenda had symposia on electron band theory and electron emission, special sessions on superionic conductors, helium-3, and synchrotron radiation, sessions on semiconductors and semimetals, metals, magnetism, surface physics, diffusion, lattice dynamics and disordered systems. In this report the plenary, invited and some selected contributed presentations are recounted along with a comparison of this meeting with the equivalent American Physial Society Meeting.
