Waveguides in Lithium Niobate-Tantalate.

Abstract

This contract concerned obtaining as complete a description as possible of the formation of diffused lithium niobate-tantalate waveguides and determining the optimum processing and conditions for them. In the final portion of the work, the goals were (1) to complete the analytic study of the waveguides begun earlier, (2) to study the factors contributing to waveguide losses and determine the limits within which low-loss waveguides can be fabricated, and (3) to study the formation and optical characteristics of stripe guides.
