Radio Set AN/URC-78 (XE-2)/V. Volume II.

Abstract

The purpose of the program was to develop a new family of VHF-FM Tactical Radio Equipment that will provide reduced size and weight, improved radio performance, increased reliability and reduced total life-cycle-cost of ownership over the VHF-FM equipment currently fielded by the US Army. A major program objective was to develop a common Receiver/Transmitter unit which, through the use of appliques, could provide the radio communication needs of vehicular, manpack and aircraft users. The equipment components include a Receiver/Transmitter, Manpack Antenna, Manpack Battery, Vehicular Applique, Vehicular Power Amplifier, Vehicular Antenna/Antenna Coupler and an Aircraft Applique.
