Statistical Inference Concerning Some Compound and Generalized Discrete Distributions.

Abstract

Some compound and generalized Poisson distributions are investigated. Estimators of parameters in these families using various procedures based on generalized minimum chi-square are obtained, and their asymptotic relative efficiencies are compared. Tests of goodness of fit and of various linear hypotheses are also obtained. Iterative maximum likelihood algorithms for obtaining estimators in some compound power series distributions are also developed. Some results for the fitting of data using classical discrete orthogonal polynomials are also presented, based on generalized minimum Chi-square.
