Effective Horsepower Predictions and Bilge Keel Orientations for a U.S. Coast Guard 270-Foot Medium Endurance Cutter (WMEC) Represented by Model 5347,

Abstract

A project was established at the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center (DTNSRDC) to assist the U.S. Coast Guard in the evaluation of a design for a 270-foot Medium Endurance Cutter (WMEC). This report presents effective horsepower predictions from barehull model experiments at two displacements and a bilge keel orientation experiment at the design displacement developed from a bilge keel acid trace.
