Assessing the Naval Fraction of Soviet Defence Resource Allocation.

Abstract

A methodology developed at SACLANTCEN for breaking down the Soviet Defence expenditures on the three main branches of the armed forces is described. A weighting system reflecting the different level of technical sophistication of the branches is introduced in the calculations. The methodology is illustrated with a numerical example based on unclassified sources. (Author)
