Individual and Group Problem-Solving Workshop (Student Manual).

Abstract

This manual contains instructional material which enables Army leaders to acquire the basic concepts and principles of individual and group problem-solving. The acquisition of these concepts and principles as behavioral skills is the training goal. Thus, a workshop format (primarily role-playing) is utilized to provide students with a means of practicing behavioral skills and obtaining corrective feedback. The general procedures followed in the development of the manual consisted of: adopting concepts and principles empirically derived by other researchers in the settings to the military setting and evaluating them by means of repeated student try-out. A companion manual, 'Instructor Manual -- Individual and Group Problem-Solving Workshop,' contains the role-playing exercises and experimental training methodology.
