SIMFIND Models of Anti-Aircraft Gun Systems.

Abstract

The SIMFIND mathematical models are computer simulations of an anti-aircraft gun system firing at an aircraft. The models are useful for determining the relative attrition of aircraft which can be achieved by various types of guns, for determining the relative attrition which a given type gun can exact from various types of aircraft or from one type of aircraft flying various maneuvers, or for determining the relative to an aircraft flight path. Such information may find application in a wide range of studies, e.g., evaluation of the reduction in aircraft losses to be expected from reducing aircraft vulnerability, comparison of aircraft types, comparison of gun types, development of aircraft maneuvers, selection of aircraft attack headings, and selection of sites for anti-aircraft gun systems. The models have been used by several Department of Defense elements and contractors in applications that encompass most of these examples. (Author)
