Production Engineering Measures to Manufacture Super Fine Finish Beryllia.

Abstract

Progressive polishing of beryllia substrates was demonstrated on manufacturing scale equipment. Working surfaces with 2 to 3 microinches smoothness were produced. The input substrates were commercially available 99.5% BeO parts of 1 in x 1 in and 2 in x 2 in dimensions. The physical, electrical, and thermal properties met or exceeded the modified specification requirements. (Author)
