The Army Terrain Information System (ARTINS). Data Base Storage Requirements.
Abstract
This report presents methodology for sizing a terrain information system and provides a first estimate of the magnitude of the data base for the ARTINS. The report concludes that (1) data base can be accommodated by current state-of-the-art computer hardware (2) mass storage for the on-line portion of the data base is available today and (3) the estimate must be refined periodically during the system development cycle.
