Detection and Identification of Transient Cardiac Arrhythmias Using Signal Analysis.

Abstract

The problem of detection and identification of cardiac transient rhythms is considered, based on the temporal pattern of R-R intervals. A series of dynamical models are developed in an attempt to represent actual observed data patterns. These models are then employed in a generalized likelihood ratio detector to perform the transient rhythm detection and identification functions. Extensive tests have been performed on actual data which includes PVC's, slowing, dropped beats, SA blocks, tachycardia bursts, multiple PVC's and PAC's. The results indicate that identification of these transient rhythm events can be made with high accuracy.
