Measurement of Increase in Managerial Ability Resulting from Graduate Level Education of Technically Oriented Federal Employees: A Review and Proposal for the Naval Air Federal Executive Management Program.

Abstract

Background information on the Naval Air Federal Executive Management Program is provided. Managerial skills and the manager's job are discussed and described; various strategies and designs for evaluation of training and education are reviewed; a brief overview of the assessment center is given, including a description and comments on validity, on selection and training of assessors, and on design and establishment of an assessment center. A recommendation is made that consideration be given to the use of an abbreviated assessment center for measurement of change in management skill resulting from graduate level education in the Naval Air Federal Executive Management Program (NAVAIRFEMP).
