A Credible Chemical Defense: Fact or Fantasy.

Abstract

An assessment is made of the current CW defense posture in the Army in the Field. The CW defense capability at division level is emphasised. Public opinion, public laws and national policy are discussed as external factors bearing on maintenance of a credible defense. This essay concludes with a discussion of three factors of CDW defense: training, organization, and equipment. Judgements are made regarding the value of each factor. From analysis of all factors, it is concluded the Army in the Field has no real CW defense capability.
