Modeling Reliability and Maintainability Characteristics of Production Systems via the Markov Process.

Abstract

This report develops generalized mathematical models of production systems by means of Markov chain theory. The production models are developed describing the reliability and maintainability characteristics and production rates of a system. Several methods for reducing the number of states of certain models, and improving the accuracy of certain models are discussed. A method for modeling non-exponential PDF's of time to failure by Markov chains is also presented.
