A Computer Model for Estimating Development and Procurement Costs of Aircraft (DAPCA-III),

Abstract

The report describes and lists an updated computer model (DAPCA-III) that computes from parametric relationships the development and procurement costs of two major flyaway subsystems of an aircraft--airframes and engines. Avionics costs are included but are treated as throughputs. Cumulative average, unit, and total flyaway costs are obtained for up to ten specified aircraft production quantities. Flight and avionics procurements are allowed. Although costs of spare engines are not considered to be flyaway costs, they are calculated in the model as additional costs not included in the totals. Unless otherwise specified, all costs are calculated in 1975 dollars.
