Control Response Trials of the Stable Semi-Submerged Platform (SSP Kaimalino),

Abstract

The report contains the results of full scale control response trials on a Stable Semi-Submerged Platform workboat (SSP Kaimalino). The craft is a Small Waterplane Twin Hull (SWATH) design with a 193 ton displacement. The response in pitch and roll due to canards and flaps in calm water is documented. The yaw rate response due to rudder is also investigated. The craft is found to be very controllable, and the potential exists for minimizing pitch and heave motions and reducing the occurrence of slamming. (Author)
