Ceramic Materials and Components for Small Automotive Gas Turbine Engine.

Abstract

The vehicular ceramic gas turbine offers the potential of at least a 30% improvement in fuel economy compared to today's piston engine and could be made available on a production basis by the mid-1980's. The beneficial impact in future energy demands, multiple fuel potential and lessened dependence on foreign materials are sufficient motivation to initiate the recommended programs. (Author)
