Low Altitude Infrared Sensing.

Abstract

Airborne radiation thermometer measurements made at altitudes below 1500 feet are influenced by atmospheric attenuation and reflection. The errors incurred appear to be relatively altitude independent between 500 and 1500 feet. ART charts should indicate that the total root mean square accuracy of the radiometric temperatures should be on the order of plus or minus 0.6C.
