Unsteady Transonic Flow with Heat Addition Due to Condensation.

Abstract

This investigation is concerned with the occurrence of periodic oscillations in the compressible flow of gases through supersonic nozzles with heat addition due to condensation of vapors by homogeneous nucleation. The experimental work focuses on the influence of the ratio of the specific heats of the carrier gas, the dimensionless latent heat, and the Damkohler number on the dimensionless frequency of the fluctuating flow. The investigation is carried out in a Ludwieg tube, taking advantage of the increase of supply relative humidity with constant specific humidity over three flow periods.
