Graphic Line Symbolization System. Volume I. Systems Analysis and Design.

Abstract

This report documents work performed in the development of a Graphic Line Symbolization System (GLSS) for the Defense Mapping Agency-Aerospace Center. GLSS provides a wide range of data processing capabilities related to cartographic symbology. These include all lineal symbols and many point symbols to support and 1:200,000 series chart production. The system also includes a number of line cleaning and data culling functions. The system has been designed to be highly flexible as to input/output options and symbol specifications build, update and override. The report is in three volumes: Volume 1 - System Analysis and Design; Volume 2 - System Implementation, Operating Procedures and Testing; and Volume 3 - Program Documentation.
