FAA Lightning Protection Study: Reliability Life of Lightning Protection Devices under Simulated Lightning Conditions.

Abstract

The report deals with the experimental design of reliability life testing program, with its implementation, and with the analysis of failure data generated. Four different types of lightning protection devices were tested under simulated lightning conditions: the RCA SK 3095 Zener diode, the General Electric V130LA20 metal oxide varistor (MOV), the Signalite CG-75 miniature spark gap, and the General Semiconductor GZ1115Q TransZorb.
