Salt-Type Complexes of Porphyrins: Monocation Octaethyl Porphinium Tri-u-halogeno-hexacarbonyldirhenate (I).

Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of a monocationic porphyrin species which includes a new anionic halogenocarbonyl rhenium (I) species as the cation are reported. By the reation of a 2:1 mole ration of rhenium pentacarbonyl chloride and octaethylporphine in refluxing decalin under argon, both the dirhenium octaethylporphine, OEP(Re(CO)3)2, and a salt-type complex of (H3OEP)+(Re2(CO)6Cl3),-(cO)6 were synthesized. X-ray structural analysis of the salt-type complex revealed an unusual structure of the anionic halogenocarbonyl rhenium (I) species complex with an octaethylporphinium monocation. (Author)
