Preliminary Evaluation of ATQ Polymer as a Potential Matrix Resin.

Abstract

The Air Force Materials Laboratory (AFML), Polymer Branch research on acetylene terminated quinoxaline (ATQ) polymers has been extended to determine the potential of this newly discovered material as a matrix resin for reinforced composites. Preliminary investigations of mechanical properties of ATQ research samples have been conducted and the results compared with those obtained on the HR-600 resin which is under Air Force development. These preliminary findings and others indicate great potential for ATQ and that additional quantities should be made available for the fabrication and evaluation of composite test specimens.
