Applications of Empirical Corrections to NOAA-4 VTPR Observations.

Abstract

A technique for reducing the errors in atmospheric temperature profiles derived from infrared measurements taken by weather satellites is presented. A set of empirical corrections obtained by regression analyses was tested on independent samples. The results showed an overall decrease in the errors in the derived temperature profiles. (Author)
