Physical and Chemical Properties of JP-4 Fuel for 1975.

Abstract

Test reports on a random sample of 778 batches of JP-4 fuel purchased in calendar year 1975 have been analyzed to determine average properties and frequency distribution for eight geographical districts. Twenty-three of the inspection tests required by the JP-4 fuel specification (MIL-T-5624J) were selected for analyses. Results of the analysis indicated a slight change in the average fuel quality from that reported in 1970 and 1972. This change is reflected in slightly higher average distillation temperatures and lower API gravity values. With exception of Reid Vapor Pressure, no significant difficulties were observed in meeting specification requirements. Comparison of thermal stability test results for ASTM Method D1660 and D3241 showed no significant differences.
