VELA Network Evaluation and Automatic Processing Research
Abstract
Work performed on Contract Number F08606-75-C-0029 has been reported in detail in a series of nine technical reports. This final report summarizes the material covered in each of the technical reports and discusses the conclusions obtained. The five tasks in the program were: A preliminary evaluation of the Korean Seismic Research Station; The development of an optimum automatic seismic detector; The investigation of adaptive beamforming techniques and distributed signal models as applied to interfering seismic events; The development of a network magnitude bias model, and the investigation of various short-period seismic discriminants; and The development and evaluation of an interactive graphics system for the PDP-15 computer to process seismic data, including data from the Seismic Research Observatories.
