The Effects of A Reduced Field of Vision on the Command and Control of the Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle (MICV).
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to provide an evaluation of the commander's command and control capability in Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicles (MICV). A Field test was conducted to determine this capability. The first phase of the field test consisted of target detection and the targets utilized were simulated tank, hunter-killer teams. During the secon phase of the field test, the adequacy of command and control was evaluated in terms of maintaining and changing formations. The most important conclusion to be drawn from the results of this study is that the command and control of an armored personnel carrier, as measured by the criteria employed during this test, was not degraded by a 70 degree area of obscured vision.
