Piezoelectric Falling-Sphere Accelerometer Systems for Measuring High Altitude Atmospheric Density.

Abstract

Falling-sphere atmospheric density measuring systems were developed using piezoelectric accelerometers. Seven-inch and ten-inch diameter spheres were developed, fabricated and tested. A new accelerometer was designed for the seven-inch system. An improved design of the accelerometer developed under Contract F19628-71-C-0131 was integrated into the ten-inch system. (Author)
