Design and Development of AN/TSQ-85(XE-1) Video Technical Control Center, TD-976(XE-1)/G Multiplexer, and TD-982(XE-1)/G Pulse Form Restorer.
Abstract
This report contains a description of the effort expended to produce the AN/TSQ-85(XE-1) Video Technical Control Center, TD-976(XE-1)/G Multiplexer, and TD-982(XE-1)/G Pulse Form Restorer. This equipment is designed to provide the U.S. Army with a high-speed time division multiplex communications capability for the integration of AN/TRC-138 radio terminals and AN/TCC-73 telephone terminals. A modified S-280 shelter, the AN/TSQ-85(XE-1) contains up to 12 TD-976(XE-1)/G multiplexers, a group patch interconnect facility, orderwire equipment, teletypewriter facility, and environmental control equipment. The TD-976(XE-1)/G multiplexer provides time division multiplexing of up to eight asynchronous groups of 576/288 kbps data channels into a 4.9152 Mbps bit stream. The TD-982(XE-1)/G pulse form restorer is a cable repeater used to regenerate 4.9152 Mbps data in the cable line external to the AN/TSQ-85(XE-1)/G. The AN/TSQ-85(XE-1) Video Technical Control Center, TD-976(XE-1)/G Multiplexer, and TD-982(XE-1)/G Pulse Form Restorer have been subjected to operational and environmental tests specified by USAECOM.
