Army/Air Force Tactical ESM and Reconnaissance Information Needs (AATERIN). Volume III. EDP Programs and Operator's Guide.

Abstract

The fundamental concept in the CSAF-directed program is as follows: The function of the Tactical Air Reconnaissance System is to provide the Commanders of various military services with information on which to base their tactical decisions, and satisfaction of these needs is the proper yardstick for measurement of the tasked system capability. Similarly, such needs are applicable as minimal system performance requirements. Commanders' information needs are not developed in this program. The needs employed in AATERIN are those stated/detailed within numerous other Air Force and Army statements and studies. Such needs vary as a function of geographic area, conflict situation, service, command level, and target type. The variation of these factors provides an informational base too long and unwieldly for staff use by manual manipulation. The AATERIN program is a method by which such data can be managed and applied to current tactical air reconnaissance problems, and has been approved by the Army and the Air Force.
