The Effects of Solar Flares on the Ionosphere,

Abstract

A model has been developed which describes the response of the earth's ionosphere to the enhanced soft x-ray and EUV radiation accompanying solar flares. Time-dependent changes in electron and ion densities in the D, E, and F regions are calculated and compared to results from calculations made for unperturbed conditions.
