Solid Wood Content of Western Softwood Logging Residues.

Abstract

The wood content of green forest residues from seven western coniferous species increased rapidly as residue diameter increased to 4 inches outside bark and then remained relatively constant. For a given species, the relationship was similar at all geographic locations sampled. It is suggested that material less than 4 inches in diameter outside bark is best used by being left in the forest.
