The Role of Reserve Forces in US Military Strategy.

Abstract

The basic consideration is the role of the Reserve Forces in US Military Strategy over the next decade. Data was gathered using literature search utilizing writings of various prominent people. The exact role the Reserve Forces play in military strategy has not been clearly understood. Under the current military strategy, known as '1 1 1/2 wars', the reserves have a very definite mission and will be depended upon, perhaps more than ever before in history. The Reserve Forces in being constrain military strategy for immediate use purposes. These forces are also constained by manpower, material and time considerations along with our other domestic requirements. These forces are flexible and can be changed by a changing strategy within a time period, but are not available for immediate use to carry out an enlarged strategy. The United States should make an all-out effort to achieve the forces to support their current strategy and plan for such changes as necessary for greater contingencies as we play our role in world affairs.
