Frost Influence on the Stability of Railroads (Influence du Gel sur la Stabilite des Voies Ferrees),

Abstract

During the very cold periods of most winters, the Chemins de fer federaux observe, some swellings in various parts of the network give rise to important deformations of the rails. After the frost period, these heavings disappear and the rails return to their previous positions. This report discusses this phenomenon.
