Description and Operation of the Laboratory Laser Cooling Module (LCM) for the Mobile Test Unit (MTU).

Abstract

This report briefly explains the design and operation of the Laser Cooling Module (LCM), a support module for the Mobile Test Unit (MTU). Prior to, during and after the lasing operation of the MTU, varying quantities of heat are generated by the laser. This heat must be removed at the laser and expelled elsewhere for proper operation. The purpose of the LCM is just that: to remove laser heat and expel it to the atmosphere. The proper functioning of the LCM has a direct relationship to the MTU laser power output. (Author)
