Description and Operation of the Laboratory Mirror Temperature Regulating Module (MTRM) for the Mobile Test Unit (MTU).

Abstract

This report briefly explains the design and operation of the Mirror Temperature Regulating Module (MTRM) for the Mobile Test Unit (MTU). The MTU laser cavity has three mirrors that direct the laser beam through an aerodynamic window into a beam expander impinging on a secondary mirror. The beam is directed out of the expander through a beam director and onto a designated target. During lasing, these four mirrors must be maintained at a relatively constant temperature by flowing conditioned water through each mirror. The MTRM, along its controller, maintains mirror water temperature at a relatively constant value regardless of ambient temperature. (Author)
